Frances K. (Brophy) Fournier, 87, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully with her children by her side, while under the care of Niagara Hospice, on March 1, 2026. Born on February 7, 1939 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Pierce and Mary Helen (O’Keefe) Brophy and the wife of the late Joseph Anthony Henry Fournier.
Frances graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Niagara Falls, NY and earned her Registered Nursing Degree from Mercy School of Nursing in South Buffalo, NY. For over 30 years, she was a dedicated Registered Nurse and Director of Utilization and Review for Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Frances was a lifelong devout and faithful member of St. Mary of the Cataract Church. After her early retirement, with her love of helping people she began a lengthy volunteer journey bringing her to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, Heart-And-Soul Food Kitchen, where she graciously blessed people with second portions and Niagara Hospice House. Frances was an avid reader, who had a gift of humor like nobody else, and all those she met were guaranteed to leave with a good laugh.
Frances is survived by children, Susan M. (Don) O’Brien, Joseph Fournier, Thomas Fournier and Katie Fournier; grandchildren, Martin, Patrick, MaryClaire, Ethan and Nathan; a brother, Mark (Roseanna) Brophy and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by siblings, Thomas, MaryBeth, Arthur and Michael.
All are welcome to gather for visitation on Saturday, March 7th, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., at St. Mary of the Cataract Church, 259 4th Street, Niagara Falls, NY, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. after visitation. The Christian Rite of Committal and entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice.
